Santo Stefano Belbo is a small but important town in Piedmont’s Cuneo province, nestled on the right bank of the Tanaro river. Sandwiched between Piedmont’s two most important wine areas, Langhe and Monferrato, 85% of the town’s territory is planted with vineyards.

The Langhe are made up of long, gently sloping hills with nearly horizontal crests above sheer ravines, while the Monferrato is formed of softly rounded hills. Cool valley floors offer a magnificent contrast to the sun-kissed ridges. Both have sedimentary soil, with an underground tufa layer covered by an extremely friable surface with few rocks. The Tenuta il Falchetto Estate’s vineyards and wine cellar are on these hills.

It is a land of great aromas, the perfect growing area for Piedmont’s renowned grape varietals with their strong character and personality and their sweetness from the strong sun. The names alone are mouthwatering: Moscato, Barbera, Dolcetto, Nebbiolo, history, myth and legend.
